My Cute New Avatar (edit)

Wed Mar 19, 2008, 6:15 AM
The wonderful lady from *AllAboutTheChocolate was feeling sorry for me, because I didn't have an avatar. So she was SOOOO kind and made one for me! Isn't this cute?!

I've already passed on my thanks but you also could go on over to this scrumptious chocaholics site and say thank you for me!

Hey you!
You've been convicted of being a member of =AllAboutTheChocolate. Did you know they are holding a contest at the moment and haven't gotten any entries yet? You have three days left to get your creative juices flowing and create a chocolate monster in any medium you prefer.
Please don't let the club die! :please:

Thanks Kat. Lovely gallery.

Thanks, Skip. Unfortunately, a lot of time the food gets eaten before I have a chance to take photos! The "cat on the hot tin stove" is my baby, Bandit. I thought he was good looking enough to use.

What an awesome site Kat! I didn't realize that you were such an accomplished cook! :wow: I've been trying to start up a cooking club with some of my friends at work. Some of your recipes may come in really handy for that! Some of my Chinese friends are really exceptional cooks in the authentic Chinese styles (many of which I enjoy). Maybe I may be able to get some recipes to share with you too - if you'd like?

I left home at an early age, and having been introduced to great food by my parents, I realised that if I wanted to eat well, I had better start learning! I cook dishes from every culture in the world, I think, but my favourite is Mediterranean, from having spent so many holidays in southern France and Spain. I have over 600 cookbooks now! My favourite recollection is coming to Canada in 1988 with three suitcases; one for my clothes, one for my daughters clothes and one for my books! It cost me a fortune in overweight fines, but it was worth it and I still have them all.
I have Chinese friends also, from Harbin in northern China, but neither of them speak English very well. They eat here regularly, and as they own a grocery store which is very busy in the summer, I cooked dinner each night for them, at the same time as for my own family.
I'd love to see recipes from your Chinese friends. You are lucky to have friends that cook. Almost all of mine are from the 3M school....M&M Meats and Microwave!

And that includes my 3 daughters!
Love and :hug:s, Sasha. I'll posting more now that it is getting too cold to go out to the garden.

I know what you mean about the 3M school. My wife graduated from there too! When I met her back in 1990, the only "spices" in her pantry were salt and pepper. Although she's come along way in trying new things since then, she's still a boiled dinner sort of gal at heart. This has made for some "interesting" times - like when we were both invited over for an authentic szechuan hot pot last Christmas (imagine a Chinese fondue pot with a 200g bag of suicide hot Chile peppers thrown in for good measure). She still hasn't forgiven my Chinese colleague for inviting her to a meal packed with enough scovilles to stop your heart. Naturally I loved it...even though my stomach had a few things to say to me afterward...:lmao:
